that promise? [applause] we love having mitt romney here. but we like having president obama and joe biden here because they say the darnedest things in virginia, don't they? like joe biden, it's great to be here in north carolina. and then the incredulous remark by president obama that if you have a business, you didn't build that, somebody else made that happen. can you believe that he said that? does that sound like somebody who understands free enterprise and the american dream? fortunately, we have a candidate who does. i'm glad to have followed george allen. he was a great reform governor and he will be a great united states senator to help turn this country around. and then change almost immediately their travel schedules as they try to get their message out. vice president joe biden can selling a rally in virginia beach. governor romney doing pretty much the same thing. he had an event set for tomorrow in virginia, but he is not letting the storm stop him from campaigning in florida. several rallies lined up today in the crucial swing state. probably to convince the last undecided voters he is the man for the job. chief political correspondent carl cameron is our man for the job. carl, what is governor rom know telling the folks. >> florida is not as worried as some of the states to the north. this is the second event of the day. it started in pensacola. and just a short while ago, governor romney confirmed to the audience that it is not only the one event in virginia beach that mr. romney has postponed for tomorrow. he will not be going to virginia at all because of hurricane sandy. >> i just spoke with the governor, governor macdonald and the governor and i talked about that. he said, you know, the first responders need to focus on preparation for the sto

. the reason that it comprised one-half of joe biden's two-line campaign slogan for election and why romney tried to race away from the position at the time he held at the time of the crisis, to let the auto industry go through a free fall bankruptcy. now, i supported the auto rescue at the time. i think it's been well handled by the obama administration. there's something more bizarre that after the first term, the president ended the war in iraq, passed landmark reform and a health care bill that is the most significant piece in year, a bill that gives each american access to health insurance for the first time. after all that, the president's re-election would come to rest at the execution of a package initiated by george w. bush in the last days of his time in office. imagine getting in a time machine and going back to the mall in 2009 and telling people in a crowd of more than 1 million, the man about to get sworn in would see his re-election hinged on the pack onlg of loans the bush administration authorized. there's no way they would believe you. the reason for this strange state of

, that it would be a one-term proposition. we absolutely agree, and joe biden said that, you know, the middle class has been buried, and certainly here in ohio we've seen, you know, where average income is going down. you have a great governor here in ohio. there were 30,000 people here at the ohio rally, governor, senator portman, and they are doing all these policies to turn around the economy. they need a partner in washington with mitt romania any who is going to work with your governor, with your senator, to do things that will get more jobs for ohio and get this economy turned around and get those people back to work instead of having a $1 trillion welfare economy that nobody is happy with. people want to go back to work. >> let talk about your home state of virginia, coveted prize certainly for both candidates what. makes the romney campaign think that they can capture virginia at this point? >> well, we are leading in virginia with independents, just like we are leading in ohio and everywhere, and in virginia we're very concerned about, first of all, the president's tax increases are

, vice president joe biden spending the day in the battle ground state of colorado slamming the republican ticket in front of a crowd of supporters. >> we saw those debates. some of those debates you begin to wonder, governor romney and congressman ryan seemed to be running as fast away from their positions as they can. it's like watching a guy, little kid trying to outrun his shadow, man. it keeps catching up saying whoa, it's still there! shadow doesn't go away until the sun goes down. it's going down tuesday night. >> heather: meantime, republican vice presidential nominee paul ryan is on a sprint hitting rallies in four states today, starting in marietta, ohio, that's where he reminded supporters how close america is to decision day. >> washington is really broken and we can not afford four more years of this. we don't have to settle for this. three more days. that's all we need. three more days. 's not nothing, it's the candidate's time, joe biden going to scranton. i suspect if things keep on the current trajectory, the president might have to go to pennsylvania, bill clinton might have to be there repeatedly. every day they're spending in pennsylvania is a day they're not spending in ohio. the republicans believe, not just rove's group, but some of the others, they believe there's a possibility to at a minimum keep the president on the -- having to not just focus on ohio. and if they can distract him away from ohio to play defense in these other places, they can increase their chances. the democrats totally dismiss this, but there's a reality. they're playing defense. >> you can say dismissive, but mike barnicle, the fact that democrats would put their key asset, bill clinton -- >> in pennsylvania. >> in minnesota today, two stops in minnesota today, that's -- that's worrisome for the democrats. >> yeah. if you -- if you're taking one of your principal assets, the president and the vice president frozen now, the key asset not only your principal asset, your key asset, but one really

joe biden, barring the storm affecting his schedule to be here on monday. >> and then from new hampshire, the president is on to quite a few other battleground states, ohio being one of them. virginia, where else? >> reporter: he goes to ohio a few times actually. he is heading tomorrow to florida, a day early in anticipation of the storm. you have florida, virginia, ohio, wisconsin, colorado, then back to ohio, and then we'll see -- he is expected to continue on his travels through tuesday, election day. >> all right, thank you so much, traveling with the president there in new hampshire. >>> so while mitt romney's quest for the white house has been well-documented, and romney's journey has been fascinating, as well, with a series of interviews. you will get a glimpse on her role in the campaign, and how it has evolved. the journey of ann romney, tonight. >>> and one independent filmmaker is firing up black cinema, from publicist to ward-winning filmmaker. >>> i just think you have to coax people out of their fear, everybody has creative abilities, but people just don't expres

poll shows a dead heat. and 49% of the independents go for president obama and joe biden, 47% go for governor romney and paul ryan. moderate voters who tend to live in the suburbs, many of them independents, 60% for the president to 38% for governor romney. if you're looking at this poll and thinking what is governor romney need to improve on in the final days? he probably needs to boost his numbers with independents if he wants to get over the top. i can tell you in talking and e-mailing with both campaigns today, wolf, they agree with our numbers. they would have it more of an exact tie as oppose today a statistical tie. that's why the candidates are back here so often. they view colorado as a dead heat and both need the nine electoral votes here. if you look at the path to 270, colorado would help both candidates greatly get to the finish line. >> as close as it appears to be, could be a long night counting the votes in colorado. john, thanks very much. a number of other swing state polls from other news organizations also show a very, very tight race. our chief political anal
